Green Lane, Harrogate

Originally the property was a 70's bungalow
that had been previously extended to the rear in the 80's in a manner sympathetic to of the style original dwelling.

The owners, a TV Producer and Art Gallery owner, hoped to transform the house into a modern family home.

Fundamentally the modified form retains most of the main external wall structures and footprint yet the internal layout and external aesthetic have been radically altered. The removal of the original pitched roof profile allowed the introduction of a number of glazed roof lanterns which provide a positive introduction of daylight into the internal spaces.

Re-orientation of the internal room layout allowed the principal living accommodation to look out and access onto the private rear garden.

The finished project sits comfortably between the existing two storey properties of a more traditional manner either side and provides an positive contribution to the varying architectural styles within the area.
