Village End, Follifoot

The site is occupied by a non descript bungalow built in the 60’s and in this case the client wish to demolish the existing building and replace it with a new dwelling house to serve as their retirement home.

Due to planning policy the new dwelling has to be built over the existing footprint and is to be an energy efficient property with low carbon foot print.

Ground source heat pumps, solar panels and rainwater harvesting are to be incorporated in order to make the dwelling as environmentally friendly as possible.
Prefabricated ‘SIPS’ (structural insulated panels) are to be incorporated as the main method of construction in order to obtain a fast track on site programme. Reclaimed natural stone and a maintenance free rendering system are to be used as external materials in order to match in with the more traditional period properties adjacent.

In order to capitalize on views over rolling country side to the rear it is intended to incorporate larger areas of sliding glazed units allowing access out onto a private landscaped garden area.
